5 Things you can do right now to change your life

ree

The physical, emotional, and mental changes that happen throughout the stages of our life journey can sometimes leave you feeling like you're constantly trying to keep up. What if I told you that small, intentional shifts in how you think and act could bring real, positive changes in your life right now? By recognizing the connection between your thoughts and actions, you can empower yourself to feel more in control, grounded, and confident, whether you're a mom or not.

Here are five simple steps you can take today to shift your mindset and feel more balanced, no matter where you are on your journey:

1. Shift Your Self-Talk

We all have an inner voice that shapes how we feel about ourselves. It’s easy to fall into negative self-talk like, “I’m not doing enough” or “I’m failing.” These thoughts can weigh heavily on your heart and affect how you show up for yourself and others.

What to do right now: When you notice a negative thought, pause and give yourself grace. Reframe the thought with kindness: Instead of “I’m not doing enough,” say, “I’m doing my best with what I have right now.” Instead of “I can’t handle this,” try, “I’m capable of learning and growing.” Offering yourself these compassionate reminders can ease stress and boost your confidence.

2. Practice Mindful Breathing

Life’s ups and downs can bring emotional highs and lows, and stress can often feel overwhelming. Sometimes, just a few deep breaths are all it takes to help you reset, calm your mind, and soothe your body.

What to do right now: Close your eyes, place a hand on your heart or belly, and take three slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale slowly through your mouth. As you breathe, gently remind yourself that you are giving your body the calm and energy it needs to move forward.

3. Reframe Challenging Situations

Life can throw challenges your way, and it’s easy to focus on what feels difficult or uncertain. But shifting your perspective and looking at challenges as opportunities for growth can help you feel more empowered and in control.

What to do right now: Think about a situation that’s been weighing on you. Ask yourself, “What’s one small thing I can learn from this?” or “How can I approach this differently tomorrow?” Viewing a struggle as a learning experience can make it feel less overwhelming and give you a fresh outlook.

4. Celebrate Your Wins, Big and Small

It’s so easy to focus on what’s left on your to-do list, but taking a moment to recognize your accomplishments—no matter how small—can shift your mindset and bring a sense of achievement to your day.

What to do right now: Think of one thing you did well today, whether it’s completing a task, handling a difficult moment, or simply being present with a loved one. Say to yourself, “I’m proud of this,” and allow yourself to feel that pride. Celebrating these small victories can remind you that you’re doing amazing, even on the toughest days.

5. Set an Intention for Tomorrow

Life can feel fast-paced and overwhelming, but ending your day by setting a gentle intention for tomorrow can help you feel more centered and focused.

What to do right now: Before going to bed, set a simple, positive intention for the next day. It could be as small as “I’ll take five minutes for myself” or “I’ll approach the day with kindness.” Setting an intention gives you something to look forward to and helps you feel more in control of how your day unfolds.
